    1. Do not admire, and do not believe so much it was a wager I made with myself I wagered that God exists 2 stars Such an interesting premise a retelling of the biblical story of Elijah I was excited to find out about this famous prophet and the ancient lands in which he lived Despite this I didn t enjoy this story Nothing really happens Elijah spends the whole time in inner turmoil and indecisiveness He falls in love with a woman which just adds to his lack of direction I was just bored, after he [...]

    2. Another crappy book by Coelho I don t know which bugs me his boring, overly simplistic writing style or his problematic, platitude laden philosophical musings with which he beats readers black and blue Some people call Coelho s writing poetic, but to me his books are about as literary as a Hardy Boys novel Coelho always tells, never shows he keeps you emotionally detached from his characters and everybody in his novels talks in exactly the same way as everyone else The dialog in this novel is e [...]

    3. If you are interested in history, spirtuality and a fulfilling message, you can t go wrong with this book Coelho writes his interpretation of the story of Elijah, the old testament prophet, who underwent trials, tribulations, and suffering all while learning about himself, human love, and his capacity for forgiveness A moving and relevent book, whether you are interested in spiritual development or if you just want to understand the historical conflict between Israel and Lebanon A must read.

    4. Although I liked The Alchemist The Zahir better , but it was indeed an interesting read.It has something in common with the two books which is the quest and the journey the main characters of the story has taken Powerful metaphoric insights throughout the book And I must say it wass as inspiring as the rest of Coehlo s books I m now in a position where I can confidently say that I understand his writing style My favorite quotations from the books which i highlighted in pink in my hard copy 1 Sad [...]

    5. Paulo Coelho what an amazing writer He just never disappoints. The book really pulled me in, I took my time with it but completed it in a reasonable amount of time It s not too long or too short, it s just the right amount of plot and conflict to make it a good read Actually, scratch that, it was an amazing read The story is pretty much on this man who is destined to be prophet and lead the people to the right path He struggles, goes through pain and suffering He fails much, but the people he mee [...]

    7. I love the book I found very interesting the story being base on Elias life What I like the most from the book was the idea that a prophet like him fall in love with a woman, I would not have imagine putting that story together an man from God and falling in love however, he did not get the chance to live that love at a full expression due to the woman he love died, so when this happens is when I found the book better because Elias path changed completely Elias became angry at God, and he starts [...]

    8. I forgot Thee, Lord, and I am not ashamed And because of it I discovered that I am on my path because such is my wish, not because it was imposed on me by my father and mother, by the customs of my country, or even by Thee It is to Thee, O Lord, that I would return at this moment I wish to praise Thee with the strength of my will and not with the cowardice of one who has not known how to choose another path But for Thee to confide in me Thy important mission, I must continue this battle against [...]

    9. Latar belakang katolik yang mendasari buku ini cukup membuat gw menjadi lambat menuntaskannya Karena gw biasa untuk mencari info yang agak detail pada saat menemukan sesuatu yg baru, maka kadang langkah membaca gw terhenti Ditambah lagi dengan pengalaman membaca Alchemist yang sangat mengesankan sehingga membuat gw selalu bertanya, apa misi Coelho lewat novel ini sikap yg salah, too many questions lead me to nothingness.Ternyata ceritanya lumayan mengalir enak Tentang hidup Tentang tragedi Tenta [...]

    10. Maybe I m a bit biased while writing my review I don t like that Coehlo is so deeply influenced by religion, and it shows in his writing If there s anything I m trying to evade at all cost, would be religion I felt the book was very spiritual, and while it was good, warm, and whatnot, I couldn t stop thinking that every page turn was a new sermon Coehlo s style of writing is very deep and thoughtful, and his word choices are beautiful His style of writing is something I can praise He writes with [...]
