    1. Some books pertaining to the spiritual feel like overly soft pillows, you sink into them with little struggle and then find yourself being smothered This is definitely not one of those Hard hitting, at times searing in its intensity, Mr Allen is not above calling humanity out for its seeming dedication to wanton destruction in pursuit of ego based existence The prescription is meditation and the removal of the individual ego for that of a cosmic one Given I already don t believe in the existence [...]

    2. Allen describes the path to peace as one of becoming one with others with love by abstaining from self seeking Are you willing to deny yourself Self is the denial of truth, truth is the denial of self In other words, those who cling to selfishness simply cannot find peace because peace does not come from singling oneself out from other It comes from realizing a universal unity with others One s perspective will always be colored with the tint of one s personal opinions Many weak and ignorant peo [...]

    3. A beautiful meditation about truth vs the self Allen discusses 5 things to consider during meditation which I write below in order to remember.1 Love even your enemies2 Pity compassion for all human beings in suffering3 Joy rejoice and share in the joy of those in the world experiencing it4 Impurity how those little things about the self and the need to immediate pleasure stop us from the truth5 Sereniity bring yourself above love hate, tyranny and oppression, above everything toward truthA very [...]

    4. Again, another James Allen keeper WARNING If your not ready for this book, put it down, don t check this book off your list for the sake of going through books , this ones a real experience I will tell you this much, I LOVE this book with all my heart because it was reveled to me at a VERY precise moment, it was a very sensitive yet uplifting time for me It was a breakthrough time and the book supported me in the process All my thoughts were aligned with the book so each page seemed to mimic my [...]

    5. Classic, beautiful, and an eternally poignant message A meditative philosophy centered on seeking Divine Love by conquering one s corrupt, sinful self Selflessness and peace is the goal of this life and to partake in the immortal spiritual light of God Strength is quiet contemplation, patient repose, gentle response, and contentment with tides of humanity All is meant to be.

    6. The first half makes sense and is practical, the second half is far philosophical So if you read up to the first half, it would be than enough It explains how our emotions, desires and lusts cloud our minds and prevents us from peace It does references Buddha occasionally, but it uses plenty of Christian scripture The main understanding is conquer yourself and focus on God As you get closer to the Holy calm and seek truth, then you will abide in peace.

    7. Another good book from James Allen The human soul often has two masters contending for supremacy the master of Self and the master of Truth There is self and there is Truth where self is, Truth is not, where Truth is, self is not In order to know and realize Truth we must be prepared to sacrifice and renounce self our pride, avarice, vanity, self will, self indulgent, self centeredness so that it no longer holds us in bondage Basically the message of this book is that the Way to Peace lies in co [...]

    8. This book has many pros and cons to it While the mesages were solid and right on, I found truth to what was being said and found them usefull However, James messages are redundant said in many different ways implying the same message I found James writing style to be unique I beleive everything could have been written with a direct to the point message Other than that, I would reccomend this book This book is indeed inspiring, and will in many ways, help the readers become aware of foul behavi [...]

    9. Lord Krishna to Arjun One who is not disturbed in mind even amidst the threefold miseries or elated when there is happiness, and who is free from attachment, fear and anger, is called a sage of steady mind Bhagavad Gita 2.56.Absolutely helps to make oneself to part ONE from self and directs the way to Peace.Good in its content but not effective as As a Man Thinketh. But go for it Helpful anyway.

    10. I wish I could speak the way James Allen writes, he could write about the weather and make it interesting Fortunately or unfortunately he s writing about concepts of self and freeing the mind of the delusions of self it may lack thorough rationale to verify the often dogmatic sounding prose but look past that and the message is solid universal themes of freedom and selflessness tinged with Buddhist and Gnostic philosophy.

    11. I picked this up because it was free on Kindle A pretty good book with plenty of opportunity for highlighting However, at times the author felt like a Preacher telling his congregation that there is only one way to do something achieve peace or they will go to Hell I just thought he was a bit opinionated at times of one correct answer his to life.

    12. Wonderful eloquently written classicI highly recommend this beautifully written spiritual classic to all my friends and relatives It should be read multiple times as each reading reveals a new dimension and analysis of human thought and endeavour.

    13. This is a spirituality book, I loved the first chapters of finding the inner peace, elevating the mind to the higher realms of spirituality and being contented. Not a very good read, got bored along the way, comparing with Allen s book this was below expectation

    14. OkayReading this book quickly became tedious, perhaps because I m reading it so early in the morning I do plan to read it again Flicking through it, I read some wonderful quotes many of which I hope to live my life by.
